I don't think Jada looks mean, but I will admit that she does look intimidating. That's not a bad thing if you ask me. I love Jada and I think she is beautiful. I also think that her intimidating looks are part of her charm for me, it that makes any sense. Maybe your sister sees the intimidating look and interprets it as "mean."
