I have fostered many kittens and sometimes a mommy and her litter. I think its a great experience and as for getting attached I find that it gets easier the more you do it. What keeps me going is knowing that 99% of the fostered kittens get adopted out! It's an amazingingly simple way to give them the best of odds! I think you should go for it! I suggest keeping them totally separate from your own cats. It makes things simpler and unless your cat is pretty friendly they will usually feel threatened by the newcomers. That's how I do it anyway but its just because I know my cat is a loner and likes her solitude. It's a great way to dip into the vast array of kitty purrrrsonalities! It's really amazing how cats are such individuals and through fostering you can really see the rainbow of characteristics!
