My mom faced the same problem with my sister. She had a child, felt the need to leave her husband and not work. Then, she went looking for money from my mom. Eventually, after being stepped on repeatedly, my mom cut her (and the baby) off. Tough love, I guess you'd call it.

My sister now lives with her husband and their child, and while all is far from good, there is at least stability in the baby's life and my sister knows she can't live off my mom forever. My mom is getting ready to retire and had to work another year to pay off the bills my sister rang up on her credit. Oh and my sister is 32 years old.

I'm not saying that's what you should do, but it worked for our family.
