I hang sheets of aluminum foil on the arms of the couch where Ripley and Jazz have scratched. I pin in on and let it hang. It works. We also use the sticky paws and it has helped. For the other furniture I've been draping a blanket across to keep fur off and that keeps them from sharpening their claws on it too.
