I'm sure you can take birds on airplanes, but I'm also sure every airline has different policies. I guess it would be best to contact different airlines and ask them about their pet policies. I do know a girl who moved out of the country with her cockatiel, so yes, there are airlines that do allow birds on board. Be sure to do plenty of research on this in advance if you want to travel with your bird!
