It's a case of darned if you do, and darned if you don't. Left in the wild (what's left of it) these apes fall victim to many infectious diseases, and are a big part of the bush meat trade. Put into sanctuaries they don't have the room they really need to thrive and reproduce. Chimps are notorious for their sub-human strength, and it's common knowledge that a full grown chimp is capable of killing a person with no effort. Even captive raised chimps get very hostile as adults. Sad world we live in when there's no natural habitat left for many creatures.
I do feel bad for the people who helped raise this baby to adulthood, but in a way, they should have known better.
