OMG, what a tragic and horrible accident.... ! This is so heartbraking..... . We have a garage door just like that; it is supposed to go back up when it hits "something". We tried it out with a box of tissues, and it worked. But I am aslo scared to let the cats in the garage, just in case..!
I am so sorry, this must be so hard on your niece. Please tell her she may NOT take the blame on her. A cat is unpredictable, and there is no way she could have known that Juliette would run to the door.
