Just wanted to say that your neighbor sounds like a real clod. You have my sympathy.

I didn't want you to think I meant to imply you didn't care for
this dog, but there is no shame in re-homing a dog. It's far
better to help Benji go where she has the best chance to find
her forever home. A place where she can really blossom with
folks who adore her for herself. Very best of luck to both of
you. I do hope one of the Border Collie groups can help her on
her journey to a forever home.
