both my pups are from a shelter in the north of gran canaria. believe me these shelters would make the SPCA look like animal heaven.when you walk in there is about 30 cages with between 20 and 50 dogs in each cage (they are huge pens, not so much cages, but it looks like a prison). it is a non-profit organization, and the people there love the animals and try to do the best that they can with what they have. but still its not nearly enough.
both time we went there, i had to leave because i was crying so hard. we adopted tito when he was just under a month old (a throw away litter) and when he was one year old we went back to get him a "girlfriend" (they are both altered, don't worry, LOL). Bella was 2 or 3 when we adopted her, and her poor coat was so matted we had to have her shaved to the skin, she had at least 7 ticks, massive flea infestation, and ear mites. she was very timid and terrified of strange men. in the 6 months we had her the change is AMAZING!!!! some people dont even recognize her as the same dog.
everyday i wake up and am so thankful that i have my beautiful pup with me.![]()
