"Tuxedo" actually refers to the pattern of white bib, belly, toes/feet, with or without white on the face. Therefore they can be ANY color, black is the most recognised probably because a man's tuxedo is much more likely to be black than tabby striped.
Thank you, Jen. I didn't even know there was a question about this. I was just going to come post a pic of my tuxie even though I also posted a pic of her in the tortie thread. She's what's known as tortie on white, but I like to think of it as tortie tuxie. She has the white bib and the white spats, she just happens to be a "tweed" tuxie instead of a black tuxie.

I don't seem to have a really good picture showing her tuxie characteristics, but you can at least see her bib here.
