That's a great idea. When my dad died in 1999, I inherited the old family photos. After finding out I did not know lots of the people in them, I started doing a family genealogy. I have found lots of wonderful cousins on the Internet and we exchange stories.Originally posted by Karen
Today is a special day, but let it be one of celebration! Start a notebook of stories about your dad today - something that you can look over years from now for happy memories, as well as sad ones. I'm sure the little you've told us doesn't even begin to "capture him," right?![]()
I also put stories of Dad in the family history. Like when he went tipped an out house over one Halloween, and was surprised to find it occupied!
I put Dad's pictures in an acid free scrapbook so they will stay safe. They and the stories help me through the rough spots. I can always look at them and remember how wonderful he was. If nothing else, a journal would be a great place to start!
