A sad day indeed. I used to watch her cooking shows all the time. I remember one such show where she was showing how to cook a chicken and she kept saying....

"Now just slap it down and lather with a bit of butter" and she'd literally slap it so hard that it would practically get knocked off the counter. I've never laughed so hard in my life. To dear Julia a "bit of butter" was about 1/2 a cup.
