As for questions, rather that ask one or two people to come up with all the questions, why doesn't everyone come up with one question that you would like to know about your PT Pen Pal (whoever they may be)? Like: "What is/was your childhood like?" or "What is your favorite memory?" or "Describe your town/city/province." Something that might get a person to write more and not just a one line answer.
