I put my head on Spencer’s shoulder and the wind picked up. I shivered a bit, and he wrapped his arms tighter around me. Suddenly the black storm clouds were back, full force, and it began to rain.
I put Alexis into the stroller and Kendra and Matthew into the wagon. I pulled their hoods over their heads and we began the walk home. Spencer walked next to me the whole way, Erica and Jeremy behind him. He made a few attempts to hold my hand, but I saw Samantha watching us the entire time.
We got to my house and Samantha took everyone inside.
“Wanna stay for dinner? Homemade mac and cheese. Not the greatest, but we’d love to have you.” I said. I was trying not to sound like a total dork. This was the first “date” type thing we had ever done.
“Are you sure it’s okay that Erica and Jeremy stay? I can run them home quick.” He said.
“No, no, it’s okay, please stay.” I said. I smiled and he shook his head.
“Alright. As long as you’re sure it’s okay.” He said.
