I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and they are the most gentle dogs you could ever imagine. They are lovable, affectionate, never growl or bite, EXCEPT, when he has a raw hide. Don't try to take it from him. He becomes a totally different dog. He still doesn't growl, but if you try to take it from him, I'm convinced he would bite. He's not like that with anything else. I think the true animal instinct comes out in them with raw hides. There was a time that dogs had to fend for their food, so it must relate back to that.Originally posted by Snowy's Mommy:
<STRONG>Hi all,
I am very upset and I need some opinions on this...
Yesterday my Snowy was munching on his rawhide chew in our living room and I came up behind him to pick him up (I think that may have been the problem, coming up from behind him and startling him)--he turned around and nipped me very hard! He has NEVER done that to me before!
Has anyone else had this experience with their baby? I am upset over this. He has nipped my Dad before because he was holding him while he was getting a trim, but that is all.....
Any opinions are much appreciated.
Thank You,
Jordan</STRONG>
