Funny you mentioned that. I was also living in NYC in '65, in 86th and 3rd Ave., and working all the way down, south of the Village. I was lucky enough to catch the last bus going uptown. This frosts me because this is the exact same thing that happened in 1965; there was a cascading power failure. Nearly 40 years ago they were supposed to work on isolating the grid parts that went down. Our hairy buddy Osama is probably rubbing his hands together in glee.![]()
But then, I lived, in NYC, through blizzards, transportation strikes, newspaper strikes, etc., etc. As much as I love the city, I rather stay in my little town in CT now.
I hope everybody is fine , with all the power restored already.
