WOW I am experiencing the weirdest thing in my rattery right now! New colors maybe? A new lightening gene? Shadows?![]()
I have never seen anything like this. My black, yes black doe now has a completely light creme stomach! Her sister who is a Russian blue, is going through some weird changes as well. She has a light stomach as well, creme and her guard hairs are sort of a mocha color with Russian Blue tips! She used to be ALL Russian blue. I have NO IDEA what is going on and needless to say I am very excited!!! I could have a NEW gene in my rattery.
The amazing thing is that none of them appear to be molting either. I am at a complete loss. The other sister has now turned a sort of Apricot color, one that I have never seen before! She's not beige, not fawn, not lynx. ???????? I just took a ton of pics so I will post as soon as I upload them.
I can't wait to talk to some other breeders and see what they have to say.
But for now, here are some more pics of the babies. These were taken yesterday, day 4. Today is day 5 and I should have those pics up later tonight.
Yep this is a little boy lol.![]()

And here is the Russian Blue blazed boy, keep in mind this is the brother to the above mentioned girls, and he looks exactly like he should, a RB silvered berk. Nothing weird is going on with his coloring.....

Another thing I have noticed is that these babies are like dwarves, they are so very tiny compared to all the other rats, they still look like they are only 6 weeks old. They are growing in proportion but are just so small.
