Interestingly, I tried both of these things. My dog lost interest in the pink and green soft frisbee after she discovered how erratic the hard rubber ball was. I was worried about the bell inside, so I removed it before we played. That's the toy she uses now to play catch with. I just try to be sure she doesn't catch it straight out without bouncing first in order to protect her teeth and mouth. I think she enjoys running after it as much as she likes catching the ball!
