My sister had gerbils for 13 years, and one lived up to be 6 years That's really old for a gerbil. They are only supposed to live to be around 3-4, but obviously if you take really good care of them, they'll live longer.

I own 2 guinea pigs, and their life span ranges from 5-10 years.
