So I had a moment of weakness at the grocery store and bought a flat of strawberries. Since I'm the only one that eats them, I've gotten creative in using them. I decided to make strawberry coffee cake.

Everything was going smoothly until I realized that I'd forgotten to put the crumb topping on the top. So I open the oven door, crab a potholder off the potholder-hangy thingy and off flys the whole thing. Half of the stuff lands on the kitchen floor and half lands INSIDE THE OVEN! This includes several post-its and a pen. I grab the post-its so they don't catch on fire and successfully got the pen out, too. I put the cake in and congratulate myself on diverting the disaster.

Minutes later I'm standing in the kitchen wondering why I'm smelling burning pen. Doh! I look in the oven and another pen I hadn't seen had rolled to the back of the oven. It's partially melted and pooling. *sigh* So I pop the cake into the microwave and turn the oven off and leave the door open. After it cools down I scrape the pen off but it's leaked a bunch of ink that won't come off no matter what. Luckily my microwave doubles as a convection oven.

The cake was delicious! Am I the only person with an ink stain in her oven?
