In my previous life as a printer, we using an ink mixing system called Pantone Matching System.
We had about 7 or 8 different cans of ink and an ink "recipe" book. With that, we were able to mix hundreds of different colors of ink.
Non-printing people were very surprised when we talked about PMS 313 or PMS 584!
