Our Cincy was certified as a Therapy Dog in march of this year and has begun making a few visits a month. She has been to a health fair, a nursing home, a rehab, hopital and a school for kids with behavioral problems, and she did very welll at all of them. She esp. loves the kids!!!


Here are some basic rules:
1.Dogs must have a current rabies certificate and distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, para-influenza and parvovirus inoculation.

2.A yearly physical and stool check.
3.
Dogs must be kept on leashes at all times when in an institution except when doing certain obedience exercises.
4. To wear the yellow TDI ID tag when working as a therapy dog.
5. Dogs must have passed a Canine Good Citizen Test with TDI modifications.
6. Dogs must be at least one year of age.
7. Annual heartworm test.
8. Female dogs must not be in estrus when participating in therapy work.
9. Be well groomed.
10. Therapy Dogs, when in public, may wear a red leather or nylon harness with the TDI patch on top as a visible sign they are a Therapy Dog
