We would like to do this, since we have it in the kitchen and the front entry, but the kids come running in the pet door at top speed and I could just see my vet bills!! They also chase each other throughout the house so I don't think wood floors would look too good after even a week or so of that.

I guess the sidewalk path is the best option for a permanent solution. More work for my husband!
