I was shocked to see how much Photoshop costs - I've been scouring eBay to see if I can get a good deal on it. I had Adobe PhotoDeluxe, which was the "cheesy" version of Photoshop.
Look into Adobe Photoshop Elements. Costs about $100. It's a slimmed down version of the true Photoshop but has lots of features. I haven't quite mastered it yet, (in that way it's very similar) but I'm sure it will work well for you.
