2 Weeks ago a desperate plea went out for 2 Cerebellar Hypoplasia Cats in Fort Riley, Kansas. Their owner gave them a week or they would be taken to the kill shelter. Owner stated that they had just moved to this area from a cross-country trip where the cats experienced seizures and now in their new home they were peeing outside the box. The owner no longer wanted to care for them!
Frantic with less then a week to find Safe Haven for these 2 CH Kitties named Scooter and Rascal, we were able to secure with many people involved to get these cats safely out of the situation.
Huskers Hope Dachshund Rescue knew they would not have a chance and came to their rescue finding them a Sanctuary and would take them in til transport was arranged to Rustic Hollow. Last minute Jean in Kansas said she would immediately go get them and foster them til transport can be arranged.
Both Rascal and Scooter once safely with Jean, she noticed the peeing outside of the box and saw blood in the cats urine. With this alarm, it was quite evident these cats have been in stress and hence the peeing outside of the box.
Monday she rushed the 2 of them to the vets where both cats were kept for 2 days discovering UTI, blood in urine and also crystals! One of the cats is blocked and in need of great medical attention. Both these young cats are in emotional distress.
In addition, feline seizure activity which is also mounted by the recent stress and the process of phenobarbital will control the seizures and also a supply of anal Valium as one cat has had a 1 hour long seizure.
Huskers Hope has taken them under their wing to get them medically well and healthy.
We are hoping and praying that the blockage of crystals will not need emergency surgery. Both cats are being closely monitored and has spent 2 days at the vets being cared for their current condition.
We will be updating on how they are from Jean in Kansas who has these babies, and we hope for the best with the one guy who is blocked by the crystals.
On a happy note to all this, Jean, who is fostering for Huskers, has fallen in love, and Rascal and Scooter have a forever home!!!
All Donations will be going to Husker Hope Dachshund Rescue, Non-Profit 501 C 3.
