Wow, thanks for posting this great advice. I hope that it is useful to members on this site, and guests browsing the boards!
I once rescued a ferret that we found in a warehouse. We named him Smirnoff, and he lived with us for a little while whilst we tried to trace an owner. After a bit of detective work, we deduced that he'd sadly been abandoned, possibly along with another ferret, whom we never found. If only those people had taken as much thought as you have suggested before they bought their ferrets!
We didn't have the time to take on another pet, so we found him a lovely home with a couple who rescue ferrets. He now lives with three lovely lady ferrets, who dote on himHe had to sacrifice his manhood for the privilege, of course, but we've been to visit him and he is now a very happy, healthy ferret!
