I usually use their proper name....but not always:
Lucas is sometimes Lucas-McGucas
Monte is definitely Monte SWEEEEEEEEET- HEART
Jasper is "the feather" or pesty
Sterling can be Ster-man
Kim is Kimmy or Kimba ( I am leaning toward Kimba because of Simba the lion and she thinks she's a tiger)
