Five favorite state parks ... Illinois is so flat that rock climbing isn't a frequent occurrence around here.
Starved Rock (Utica, IL)
Lake Le-Aqua-Na (Lena, IL) - one of the highest points in Illinois
Lowden (Oregon, IL) - west of Chicago and home of the Eternal Indian statue by Lorado Taft
Kettle Moraine (east of Madison, Wisconsin) The Kettle Moraine region in Wisconsin is NOT flat - the moraines were sliced out by the glaciers and it is just beautiful year around. It's an easy drive from here and there are also all kinds of fun things to do up in Milwaukee.
Indiana Dunes (Chesterton, IN) and Warren Dunes (Sawyer, MI) ... if you grew up in Chicago, at one point or another you've probably gone to the Dunes! They're great for hiking, bird-watching, photography and, of course, the beach
Someone else's five favorite rock-climbing locations?
