I had a chance to talk to Groucho late this afternoon. His meeting with the prosecutor got a bit tense at times but Groucho was determined this case would never get to court. Thanks to Filou, the phony photo expert, Groucho was able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the pictures allegedly proving their guilt were photoshopped. As for the picture of Vinnie trying to pull a stuffed toy through the little door, Groucho had the perfect explanation; Vinnie saw it in his house, knew it wasn't his or Ruby's and was actually trying to push it outside so the rightful owner could reclaim it. Groucho said thanks to Filou's catching inconsistencies on the pictures, Gatsby's right on point legal research, and the others tirelessly going over the evidence over and over again nothing presented by the prosecutor held up. There was a brief meeting with the judge about getting the case on the docket. Both sides argued their position and the prosecutor lost his cool a few times. After listening to both attorneys and looking at some of the pictures to be introduced as evidence, the judge threw the case out of court, ordered Vinnie and Ruby's immediate release, and filed a complaint with the ethics committee against the prosecutor for filing a frivolous lawsuit.
As soon as they got the news, Pinot and Edwina jumped in the Catmobile to be there when Vinnie and Ruby were released. As prearranged by Edwina, their first stop was at a vet so Vinnie and Ruby could be checked to be sure they're okay. Fortunately both are in great shape after their ordeal.
To our extraordinary kitty legal team, concatulations on a job well done!!!!!
