I sent this e-mail to Laura regarding the kittens and this was her response:

Hi Melissa,

I have attached some pictures of Toby and Lucy and their sister Madison (who has all 4 legs).

They have been to a vet to be evaluated and it was determined that it was a congenital defect. As Lucy gets stronger and stronger, she is able to get around by hopping with very little problem. I think she will be fine long-term. Because Toby has a longer limb, he tries to walk on it and I am afraid he will develop sores over time. I am actually a prosthetic practitioner (in my residency), so I have been attempting to make a prosthesis for him. I have never made one for an animal before, so I have gone through several designs already. It is tough because he is growing and I want something that will grow with him and last him awhile before he needs a new one. He will definitely have to have a new one (probably a boot design) once he is fully grown. I just want to prevent skin breakdown now and get him used to wearing something so he won't reject it later in life.

I really want Toby and Lucy to go to a home together. They are really close friends and I think it is in their best interest to stay together.

Are you interested in potentially adopting these two? Where do you live?

Laura

Hi I read your story from handicappedpet.net

Do you have any pictures of Lucy?

Has she been to a vet to be evaluated with her part of her leg missing?

Thanks,
Melissa
