I would recommend that if it is a boy cat and he doesn't love to drink lots of water, that you ask your vet about giving him urinary tract formula (dry) to prevent crystals/urinary blockage. I don't believe girl cats are as likely to suffer from that. Other than the issue of blockage, I don't see any reason why cats can't only eat dry food and in fact, I asked my vet this very question last week for Moon (can we eliminate his wet food because he's so overweight. He drinks lots of water. The answer was Yes).
