Let's add just a few other things to keep in mind when coming to conclusions...

A 13 yr old who understands the concept of device drivers on a computer- very few adults do. At least he knows how to fix computers better than his teachers.

A 13 yr old who has run Linux as the OS prior to getting XP. For those who have never installed Linux from scratch it's not as simple as sticking a CD into a drive. Neither is maintaining Linux a joy. Quite a feat for a 13 yr old. Or was it a dual boot system? Figuring out where to put the boot block for each OS can be a lot of fun.

A 13 yr old living in a rural area in an apartment. I have visions of a multi-family farm house which seems strange. None the less said 13 yr old posts at all hours day and night, but still has time to worry about what is going on in Myanmar. Did I really worry or have political concerns about the build up in Vietnam when I was 13? Ok raise your paws - did anyone when they were 13 care about social/political events in a foreign country?

A 13 yr old whose father makes $400+ per week, at a rate of $10/hr. Assuming a 40 hr work week: $10/hr * 40 = $400. Now what ever happened to the 15% Fed tax? Guess the poor guy could be working 50 hrs a week.

The net result is a 13 yr old that claims to come from a very poor family. That family includes a mother with epilepsy. This implies Medicare, drug company programs for the poor to provide the required medication. All based on financial need. Yet the same family can toss a 13 yr old $400 (a week's pay) for a computer, and other trinkets to attach.

Computers as a hobby is an expensive one, even for a middle class family. Let's not forget the slow dial up ISP charges per month- probably $10. Must be a bear to upload and download all of the images mentioned in various postings! Ok that time again: For those of us who came from a low middle income or low income background - can you remember a time when you were in your early teens and received an item for your hobby that constituted 1 week's of family income? Yeah I know, remembering back that far might be a test for one's memory, as it is for me. But I do not recall such an occurance.

While trying to spark long dead memory cells: Can you remember the first time you encountered a computer? How many years did it take for you to feel confident that one could add or replace memory modules, or replace an old phone modem (dial up) - drivers again. How many years did it take until you felt confident enough to trouble shoot or give advise to others on computer hardware issues? Now subtract that number of years from the number "13". Plug in being a teen confident enough to advise adults.

The conclusion I come to Collins is that you are either a precoious 13 yr old, or a precoious troll. If the former then congradulations you will not be poor all your life. If the later- you need to make sure all posts are more consistent with each other.
