For the record,

My mom and dad raised us Catholic. that means-

We went to Catholic School.
They gave permission for our teachers to beat us.
We were taught, after mom instilled it into us to -
sit still, don't be obnoxious, behave, shut up and be polite.

Richard, I'll bet some people won't believe your experience in Catholic
school, but I do. Teachers were allowed to discipline students, and they
did. It was learn or else.
