He sounds like your typical abandoned cat. People say, I'm tired of the cat scratching the sofa or waking me at night or I'm having a baby and then kick the cat out the door. Sometimes they move and leave the cat.

In their wanderings, they're lucky if someone like you gives them food so they can live. To protect themselves, they become shy of strangers.

Around here, there are cat rescue groups that will take the cat in, resocialize, and then adopt out.

I don't know if you live in a major metro area, but if you do, there could be a group that would help you.

If not, getting him/her neutered or spayed is so important. Otherwise, you'll end up with kittens to feed, too!
