Ouch! Good thing you were there to save him. Who knows... if he were home alone he could have swallowed it trying put pull it out.
One time S.O.'s parents' cocker spaniel somehow got a strand of carpeting twisted around her toenail. S.O. and i were the only ones there. She started screaming bloody murder. I must have flew across the room... Now i know it could have been scary and a bit painful, but this dog over-reacted to everything and this was no exception.
On the plus side i got hero status from her 
and she followed me around everywhere after that. (Which i would have loved, but she was highly neurotic and always smelled horrid. Neither of which i really think we her fault.)

Please, if your dog is arthritic look into getting it Elk Velvet Antler. Look up my posts on it, PM me, or look it up on a search engine; but please if you love your dog and want it to live many more years consider this option. I've seen so many posts on here about dogs needlessly suffering. I can't make a new post about EVA every time so this plea is going here. EVA also helps with other ailments such as anemia.
