hmmm... maybe you have a different type of mesh one... all of them I've seen the dog can't eat or drink. It closes their mouth all but about 1/2 inch.

The cage type i seen, the dog can drink and eat (so long as the kibble is small enough.)

The cage type muzzels dont allow dogs to drink with them on, so that would cause overheating/dehidration-wich would lead to death, I would think..
