The bite not collar is made to keep the neck stiffer so it cant turn- I know of a borzoi that got whip lash from those collars. The reason is the dog tried to suddenly turn- the collar held most of the neck, but not enough to keep the shoulder muscles into the neck from turning.. hmmm
Supposedly the collar is light weight enough to not be really heavy, but also wide enough to stop the mouth from moving farther down.. Not sure about this- if the wound was hight enough up the body- the back paws can get it.
I also saw a product once that instead of the neck- it was a body wrap- protects from the back feet as well as the teeth.. hmmm
