Basset Hounds

Does anyone here have basset hounds? I have been in love w/ that kind of dog for a long time now and one day I'd love to have one, but for right now I just wanted to know if any one has one and I've always heard they're very laid-back. Is that right!?

I have a 16 month old basset male, and to be honest, he is the best dog in the world... HOWEVER, his stubborness is a trying time... he tests me at every turn and half the time drives me crazy, but I wouldn't trade him for the world. They are not the easiest dogs to housetrain and they could honestly care less about pleasing their person ... they do what they want when they want. Treats and food is about the only way I was able to get my trained as well as he is (he sits, stays, speaks, shakes, lays down)... its a constant battle of wills with him... yet, at the same time, he is the most funny dog in the world!!!

As far as being laid back... they tend to get that way when they are older. Mine is at a stage right now where he is very much a teenager and has the hyperness to prove it. He HAS to be the center of attention at all times, he doesn't take normal dog naps... he's up from sun up to sundown... and forget sleeping in!!! But like I said, I wouldn't trade him for the world!!

I personally would own another one...
