A friend of mine was hiking with her then-boyfriend (now husband) in the mountains of New Zealand, when he fell and hurt his leg badly. Thankfully Chris is a former lifeguard, and had lots of first-aid training, and was able to help him up, get him to a safer spot, keep him warm when shock set in, and get help, so it had a happier ending. They did make the NZ newspapers, though!
