Of course I would not be insulted.. lol.
The Afghan hound is also a sighthound- meaning they use their sight to chase to hunt for man. The Borzoi ( use to be called Russian Wolfhound) were used by the Tsars' of Russia to hunt on the Estate grounds in packs of 3 with a rider. ( wolves, rabbits etc). However- they were also kept in the palace so their demeanor had to be docile and subdued for the most part. Borzois seldom bark ( if they do you better check it out), they are not tail waggers, and very aware of their size.
They say it came from crossing the greyhound with the Russian collie- there is a debate as to whether or not it was not really a collie but maybe some wolf because of their heat cycles- ( like a wolf every 18months to 2 years). Most believe, as well as myself it was a Russian collie because they retain their coat basically and the top coat is more collie.
They are big, sweet, gentle, docile dogs. You can read more about them on my website as it also has links to the club etc. Also they are the longest lived of the giant breeds, and 15 is common in the breed. They sure are a head turner thats for sure... lol. And do believe themselves to be royality..lol..
