I would recommend the Canon brand because this is what I have and I love it. Mine is several years old but has so many different settings that I still haven't outgrown it. I only have 4 megapixels but it came with a rechargable battery so this has saved me a lot of money. I also have a fairly large viewer display so it's easy to see if a picture came out well before you put it on your computer. Good luck!
