Dear Tilly,
When I look back to when I first adopted you, it makes me laugh. There you were in the little PetsMart kennel.. ears too big and eyes so alert. I walked up to you and you greeted me with a little "purrmeow" - the little trill in your throat that you still use today. You weren't all that forward.. you came to the front of the kennel, but only because you wanted me to open it so you could bolt. But I took you home anyway, even though I wasn't totally sure you would be what I was looking for. On the way home in the car you started to nose your way out of the box, so I just decided to open it up. You crawled around the car, being a nuisance. Then you came to me, curled up on my lap, looked into my eyes and turned on the most powerful motor I've ever heard. It was then that I fell in love with you.
You have a special way of knowing what I need. When I'm sick, you are right by my side. When I'm sad, you comfort me. When my blood sugars are high you pester me until I get up and take insulin. When my blood sugars are low you keep me awake until I've eaten. You are the little watchdog of the family, warding off 8-legged intruders and other various creepy crawlies. You are a goofball and make me laugh. You love your daddy to death and even though he and I aren't together anymore he will always be your daddy.
Thank you for caring for me Tilly in all the ways I need when I'm down and feel like I have no one else.
