Karen, chipped beef is verrrry thin (almost translucent) slices of dried beef torn up into small (but not teeny) pieces. Make a gravy of milk or half & half if you're really decadent like me, and sifted flour and butter. The beef is already salted so don't add more. Add the beef to the gravy and heat. I like some freshly ground black pepper. Some people like green peppers but you won't find it in mine. Spoon over English Muffins, toast or biscuits. YUMMY in the TUMMY. Southern Comfort Food at its best. It was served to the soldiers in WWII (but very watered down) and they called it sh#@ on a shingle, aka SOS![]()
