    Sick cat

I have black DSH female, 7 years old will be 8 next month, spayed, had 2 litters at young age, never been outside, her great-great grandmother who passed away over a year ago and her great aunt has to put to sleep because of tumor effecting her pain in 1999. She get her booster shots every July.

For the last week, she have stop eating, loosing weight, only licking water very little, she been vomiting a lot lately, she also have stop following me around the condo and not playing her favorite toy and napping on my lap while I work on my computer or watching tv also she haven't bathe herself for quite a while. Each time after I take a shower, she jump into the bath tub and licking water and nap there. Everyday I clean and given her fresh water before I go to work. Few days ago, I took her to the vet and said nothing wrong and gave her an "engergy" shots. But dosen't help.

Yesterday she vomited yellowish fluid and no signs of furball. Today, she vomited greenish. She loosing a small balance in her rear.

Now, to avoid spending money on vet for nothing, can anyone tells me what's wrong with my cat? Blood test would cost me $125 including office visit fee, plus other cost if needed. Any idea what should I do or give her something to get well like herbs, etc. or had to put her to sleep?? Since I am disabled and under low income and my work pay very low and trying to find the way to get her well without spending money.

    Your reply is greatly accept.

First off I'd find another vet. The symptoms you have presented are very serious that warrents more than an "engery shot" that your present vet gave for treatment.

Have the blood work done. This can tell a vet allot. Also have them test for Feline Leukemia (that's a separate test).

Get your kitty to a vet ASAP. Vet's or Vet Clinics will work with you on the cost.

You need to get your cat to a vet NOW!! She is very ill and needs medical attention. With all due respect, I'm sure you can find the money SOMEHOW.

One suggestion would be to see if there is a low cost animal clinic in your area. They work with pet owners and charge according to their income.

My daughter also has a disability and is on a fixed income. But she ALWAYS makes sure her cat is well taken care of.

If it were my cat (I have 8 and am unemployed but I make SURE they are fed and healthy) that needed medical help, I'd hock whatever I had to. Sorry, but if you cannott afford all the expenses that go with being a pet owner, you have no business owning a pet.

To Craftlady: First of all I thank you for your reply. Someone has set up appointment with the better vet on the ohter side of town. We will have full exam with my cat. Few of my friend said that the first vomit of yellowish then greenish afterward is a signs of bowlment infections and few shot and forced feed will help. I will send you a private message and let you know how it goes later on.

To moosmom: I really don't appreciated of your comment of your writing in the 4th paragraph. You don't know what California rate of housing cost and the mininum of pay rates! Why don't you live in California and get a job with my pay rate and paying very high rent cost for 2 years, see it, feel it and you will learn a lesson about it!

    A good news!!

The blood test result just a small blood cell count and had given few shots.

For the last few days, she started to come around and starting to gain weight to back to "normal" and starting play around too much, my cat think my condo is a "Track Fields" to her. She is so well and much better!

    Now she follwing me alot!

I am so thankful she just fine today!

I would still watch her closely. Vomiting yellow and greenish fluid is NOT normal and indicates something very definitely going awry.

I live in California and pay what it costs to live here and pay for my all cats' vet bills myself. They are expensive, but they are lifetime commitments; I make adjustments in other areas of my budget in order to afford them the care they deserve.

"Engergy" shots? What is that? I've never heard of such a thing. Stopping eating and "loosing" (sic) weight are also not good signs. The blood tests may have come back normal (which was the case with my RB Goldie last year; she was dead from liver cancer within a few short months). Please continue to watch your cat very closely for anything that varies from her normal perky behavior. Cats are masters at masking illness and because they can't talk, we are responsible for making sure they stay healthy.
