Please, get him neutered. He'll live a way better life, being happier and healthier, not to mention you won't be bringing anymore unwanted animals into the world. There are lots of reputable breeders, and I say that it's good for them to reputable, but we don't need anymore. Nor does it sound like you'd even be reputable (in my opinion it takes more than one dog to be a reputable breeder).

If he's not even registered with any of the clubs yet, you'll have a hell of a time trying to get into the show ring and becoming a reputable breeder. It seems like you're just wanting to stud him for the money you *could* make, which isn't a very good idea at all. There is much more to breeding and showing than getting the paper and putting a personals ad in the paper. There are too many over-bred and in-bred dogs in the world right now, because of the people who get a purebred and decide to breed/stud, just cuz they can.

I agree with heinz. If your dog isn't already registered, that means he came from backyard breeders. Which means there's a very very small chance you can actually show him. And because your dog came from backyard breeders, you don't know anything about his lines. He could have terrible diseases in his blood lines that you'd be passing on to the pups. Have you done his OFA or Penhipp? CERF? BAER?

I didn't even think about the whole backyard breeder thing. My Charlie was most likely bred from a puppy mill or something similar... hence is little tail and slight personality issues. I love him to death, but he would have probably sat in that pet store til he was an adult then sent back to wherever he came from if I hadn't taken pity on his imperfectness. There can be soooo many problems if you get a dog from a puppy mill, backyard breeder and the like.

umm just because the dog is not registered does NOT mean BYB. the breeder does NOT have to be involved in kennel clubs to be a good breeder. I plan to breed misty(assuming she passes all tests) and she is not registered. infact I prefere it that way.

however I would like to know where you got the dog from, has he been health tested? if you plan to show him does he conform to the standerd? how is his temperment? his general health? etc..

Oh, i know that not being regustered doesn't necessarily mean BYB. Although, health certificates are a must regardless. I am just not in favour of breeding for breedings sake, or for the money. I think that as a general rule of thumb, if you're not already a breeder one should spar or neuter their babies, so they'll live healthier lives.

i personally think that if the dog is healthy and you dont try to "make a new breed" breeding is fine....i would also see if that breed is one that you see often in shelters.

To be honest with you I have never seen one in the shelter.. they cost way to much money for someone to put there. trust me i have done research on it.. this type of dog goes for about 400.00-1500.00

If you are 34 years old, you should know well enough to get your pup fixed and give him a healthier life.

That's why I asked....
