Omgosh I feel soooooooooo unbelieveably stupid! Everyone here had their dog potty trained in like a week and mine is still in the process of it for like the 3rd month now!!!!!!!! and I think Ringo peed in his crate a few times? But if he did I don't want him to think he can pee in there! My Dog will be like 16 and still not housebroken!

Yeah right, Sierra took us quite some time! Infact, she pooped on the floor this morning. For some reason she seems to get too excited and tries to play with Destiny and Dakota in the morning and forget to poop, she just pees outside and then when they all come in she has pooped on the floor right before I leave for work about 2 times in the last 2 months. It's not often, but it has happened and like I said, it just happened this morning! And yes, she's about 5 month old and we've had her most of that time (since about 6 weeks or so).

So, don't get to down on yourself. It all comes with time, I'm sure it will all work out in the end, just give it some more time! Children don't come out trained either!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure you'll have it in no time!

Maybe its a health issue since your dog is so old? Has he seen a vet?

don't worry about it. Pups get housebroken at different rates. Kai is now 10 months old and has only been housebroken for about a month and a half. I took us about 5 months to housebreak him. If you want to speed up the process, make praises more enjoyable (spend a few minutes on praises...maybe even give a bit of food everytime he does it correctly) and more stern NO's. Update us when you can..good luck!

Each dog can be different, specially the smaller breeds can be tougher to deal with, because their bladders are so small to begin with and generally can't hold it as long as say a great dane.

Some dogs take a week or so, others take months, I had one dog that never was, and still is not fully successfully house trained, it was horrible, the poor thing.

Max was actually house broken in about 2 weeks. He still does have an accident every now and again. Max also used to pee in his crate but hasn't in over a few months. Is his crate maybe 2 big for your dog? If he has a lot of room, he will pee in it. Make sure you praise your dog for peeing/going his deed outside. Maybe give him a treat when he does it outside. When we potty trained Otis, it took him a pretty long time to get the picture...He was very stobborn. Don't worry about it, Ringo will learn.

It took me awhile to house break Ginger. Probably close to 6 months or longer. She still has her accidents but not as bad. I think smaller breeds are harder to house break then a larger dog. I wouldn't worry about it to much every dog is different

yea He has been peeing in his crate How do I stop him? Well when his bed is in the crate it isn't too big but I've been having to wash his bed a lot he just gets it dingey some how and when the bed isnt in there it might be a little roomy for him(sp?) anyway the last time I had took Ringo to the vet She was Kinda harsh about Ringo and his potty traning She was like [PHP]" Well It's not doing him any good for you not to have your dog trained you need to get it done because you won't be a good owner if you don't train him!"[/PHP]

Personally, I would find a different vet. If your vet is not offering constructive advice and help - find one that does. Every time I adopt a dog from the shelter, my vet spends about 15-20 minutes discussing different things such as what food to feed, how to fix any behavioral issues, ways to care for their teeth, medical procedures they will need in the next year, etc. My vet is a little more expensive than some others in the area, but to me he is well worth it.

I'd find a different vet, or at least not take her comments too harshly. No one can tell you what to do with your dog other than yourself. If I told you to not feed your pup for 2 months you obviously wouldn't do that, so think of her comment the same way. Just be patient. You know that everyone is different, along with every dog. And you are NOT a bad owner for not having him potty trained yet. You love him unconditionally and that's all that matters! That's what makes you a good owner!

Thanx I realy need the support and confidence right now.I'll keep trying my hardest until Ringo is a fully trained doggie.
