Pom, not to sound creepy, but a lot of my friends go to your grand-daughters school, they closed for Monday and Tuesday.

I am right where it's supposed to hit. I'm just hoping my school is closes. But this storm doesn't look like it's going to be a joke. My boyfriend lives right on the Jersey Shore in a flood zone, but I think he's evacuating to his Aunt and Uncle's house. My family is lucky we don't live in a flood zone. My moms flipping out as always, she doesn't realize that that never helps

Yeah - I know. We talked to Tia last night, and they have already evacuated her condo at oceanfront, and are finding room for everybody at the dorms on campus. She and her boyfriend will either go to his grandmother's place inland, or stay at his place. He lives at Twin Lights of Navasink where his mother is curator. They'd definitely be safe in that old stone fort, and I think it would be pretty cool to view the storm from there.

I guess it's still anybody's guess as to where the storm will come on shore. I'm still hearing at Rehoboth Beach here in De at the mouth of the Delaware Bay. Guess we'll find out on Monday!

Tell your Mom no sense in flipping out - it won't change anything. Just be well prepared and stay safe - ya hear??

I'm with Lizbud- when I heard about this storm I started thinking of all the PTers who live in its potential path. We are supposed to have temps in the 40s and rain for the next several days. I'll keep praying. I don't know how else I could be of help.
Praying for peace in the Middle East, Ukraine, and around the world.

It's a little rainy and breezy right now, but the worst isn't supposed to hit until tomorrow night and into Tuesday. And it looks like it might make landfall right around Alysser's place. We are just a little south of her, and we'll get socked with heavy rain and wind. Schools already announced closing for Monday and Tuesday in this district, and I imagine the whole state probably will too.

We're prepared, but I hope Sandy goes easy on us.........

Isn't it awesome when you try to call out of work and your boss tells you YOU HAVE TO COME IN? You know, honestly, today I don't really care but if you think I'm coming in tomorrow you are crazy. I realize the dogs have to go out and all that but you can't expect me to drive through a literal hurricane, I'm sorry. I live 30 minutes from work on a good day. The roads I take flood in a normal rainstorm. I really can't believe this.

Alyssa - if the governor declares a State of Emergency, you may call in to say they should stay off the roads.

The "worst" for us is predicted to be Monday, noon to 8PM. Steady winds of 35 to 50 MPH, with gusts to 75 MPH. That brings a high potential of power outages.

I haven't seen a recent report on rainfall amounts for us here. I will be interesting being here with the pets, I hate being THE one in charge, ha haaa. Maybe I can convince Willy?

Dad has been in hospital since Tuesday. Since Friday afternoon, they have been trying to find a rehab facility to transfer him; but as he had C-diff now, he will need a private room, and none of the places local to us has any open. ( I suspect they just don't want the highly contagious C-diff in their facility.)

The most recent reports I've seen show that Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey are going to get a direct hit when the storm makes landfall. There is flooding already in Cape May County and all casinos in Atlantic City are closed by order of the governor. Several coastal areas in New Jersey were ordered to evacuate by 4:00p.m. today. Schools in the Trenton area have been closed along with other districts in the state. For the past few days the power companies have cancelled all vacations & time off and all workers have been called in to prep for the power outages that are expected to last for 7-10 days. Our governor declared a state of emergency yesterday and I received a notice this morning that all state offices are closed tomorrow. Here in Trenton we can expect the winds to start off at 40 mph and increase from there. We're not in a flood zone but sections of Trenton along the Delaware River could be in for a lot of trouble. Unless it has been updated, we're being told to expect 7" to 12" of rain, the worst of the storm will be tomorrow. Our temperatures have dropped considerably. Rain in our area is expected to last until Wednesday. The full moon is not going to help the storm surges. This looks like a bad one.

Sending along all my hopes and prayers and good wishes that you folks in the path of this storm will make it through this all right .. (you and everyone facing it, for that matter).

State of Emergency here in RI, many coastal areas have evacuation orders in place. Mass. has declared same and closed all schools. RI, each community handles its own school cancellations apparently as some are closed others are not.

Trash pick up is another biggie, some places have postponed one day, most have not said a word as yet.

To those in the path of Sandy, I sure hope you, your family, and your pets will be alright. Where I live in central NC the wind is higher than usual and to be moreso tomorrow (Mon) but I dont think we will have big trouble where I am. Currently at NC coast the wind is having a fit with the waves, rain, and sand and it looks as if foam is blowing everywhere (saw that on tv news report) and of course the tv reporter could hardly stand up.

If the power goes off here, I have a generator that I got years ago after Hurricane Fran knocked out power for 5 days--terrible. At the time I said I will not go through this again and I got a generator and I've used it several times during ice storms and bad storms.

I'll be thinking about you all and checking back from time to time. Hang in there! I'm sending up prayers for you.

Every update I hear sounds worse and more ominous than the last - it's making me jittery already. Pretty much what Eileen (momcat) said applies here - she's just a stone's throw away. Rain could be up to 12", sustained winds up to 60 mph for about 18 hours straight - gusts from 60 - 80 mph. And the worst part for me, is that the worst is expected from late tomorrow afternoon and into Tuesday morning - at night when you can't see anything that's happening, and you have to wonder what that crash was, etc, etc, etc........ At least when storms like this hit in daylight hours, you might be able to duck out of the way in time. Just heard that they are reporting 16' waves off Rehoboth Beach, and the t.v. showed surfers out in it. CRAZY!!!!

I couldn't agree with you more, Ellie. It started raining lightly here about an hour ago. Toll booths heading north on the Garden State Parkway and Atlantic City Expressway have been closed to speed up evacuations. Both roadways heading south are completely shut down. Waves are picking up from Asbury Park down past Wildwood, folks who have been living in the shore area for years say they've never seen anything like this. And to think this is only the beginning! New Jersey is in virtual shut down and the governor has ordered everyone to stay inside and do not go out so roads are clear for emergency vehicles only. Like the surfers, I cannot understand the people who are refusing to evacuate. I did hear on the news that this storm is expected to collide with another storm. There's a whole lot of praying going on here - Ellie, you, Maggie & Coop, and all of our PT friends in the line of fire are very much included.

To all of our PT friends, thank you very much for your concern and your prayers. It means much more than words can say. We'll update you as we can. This storm is most definitely FOR REAL!!!

I was worried for awhile because my Boyfriend didn't know where he was going to go and he lives in Lavalette, about a block from the beach. He went to his Brother's house in PA with his grandma though, so all good there. My family is as ready as possible, I think. Mikey is already starting to act strange.

It's supposed to hit land right in my county. They said the name of a really close town to mine on the news. My mom is freaking out, especially over the power.
