    Tomorrow, Sandra!!! Woohoo! He has complications from his neutering and they did more surgery on him. He'll have an e-collar for two weeks. Did anyone notice that I attract the sick ones??? Is this a hint that "I shoulda been a vet????" again and again????? sheesh!

    I seem to attract the sick ones too Sue. In fact, I have no hope of finding Peka her forever home because she's so sick. Maybe you'll end up with your third this way too

    I can't believe we have to wait so much longer to find out the test results. I will continue praying and sending good vibes.

    My parent's Bandit's vet called and said he will try to find out something sooner on the biopsy, if he can.

    aly, there is a reason why we get the ones who need special care.

    Foster Bandit is here. I will post in his topic. Uh oh.

    Molly, the results are in on Bandit #1.

    He has a rare congenital lymph system abnormality. It is so rare that they aren't even sure how to treat it. (I'm guessing that it is so rare because dogs die from it at an early age without it being diagnosed. If it weren't for Bandit's trip to the ER vet office for a fractured toe and my Mom asking about his breathing, would they have ever been referred to the specialist to find out about his potentially deadly problem. They said that if he had not been treated, he would have been dead in one to two months. Bandit's home vet gave him cough medicine for the condition.) Talk about miracles. They are going to start treatment with Roten ?? 3000mg. 3 times a day! . If that doesn't work then there will be steroid treatments, but that has too many side effects. They want to try Roten first.
    In two weeks, his stitches come out and they will be meeting with the specialist to see if the treatment is working and what to do next.

    So what's the prognosis?? It sounds like your parents are great parents to Bandit and he's lucky to have them. I sure hope the Roten works. I'm a little confused though, what exactly is the condition and what does it do?? It makes the chest cavity fill with fluid???

    Molly, it's very frustrating to be getting the info second hand when my parents don't ask the right questions. I want to know why, how, what......exactly. My parents don't know what it is called (and that would be my first question) and since it is rare and there are extremely few cases to compare it to, I don't know if there is a prognosis. They are going to try things. As far as I know, so far, the chest cavity fills up with a lot of fluid. I don't know if that is all that is going on. The lymph system is malfunctioning. Hopefully in two weeks, I'll find out more. I will volunteer to go with to the vets and see if I can get more info.

    I would take the diagnosis with guarded optimism Sue. Hopefully after the next vet visit you can get some more detailed info. After that you can do a little more investigating on your own. I'm SO relieved to hear that it was not a malignancy. Yes, so many conincidences conspired to see that Bandit's illness was discovered in the nick of time! Hopefully the medic. will start to give him so relief. You all have been through so much...I hope the tide will start to turn for you, your family and all the furkids very soon! {{{hugs}}}

    Sue,

    Bandit will stay in my prayers. I agree it is very frustrating
    to only get small answers to the questions in your mind about
    what exactly is causing Bandit's problem. Hopefully the tests
    will reveal more specific details & that boy can be made healthy
    again. I hope you get to go with on next visit to with the Vets
    and maybe they can answer more questions & offer more
    help for Bandit. Hugs & prayers from Liz & Moki.
