Check out the move at about the 1:10 mark...

26 years later men are worried about a quad?

What a bunch of pansies. I'd love to see them try to "drag undercarriage" like that.

26 years later I still think feel uncomfortable watching this.

    It's porn on ice...In a good way.

NBC had the ladies on late last night again but it was worth the wait with no advertisments in between. Maybe they had it on late Richard because of their costumes? I stayed awake & enjoyed all the ladies programs, & their costumes. Joannie is being interviewed by NBC this morning. She made it through & faced the challenge & made her mom proud.

Mao Asada looked so disappointed that she took silver. Joannie's a strong woman. Kim Yu-Na is mesmerizing to watch. I also loved Mirai Nigasu's performance. Can't wait to see her at the next games!

The ladies event was a good show! All the top flight women did very well, IMO.
I was so happy for Joannie to hang onto 3rd.
The young American women did well with Marai pulling up to 4th and Rachel finishing in the top 10!

No, the lateness was because NBC could not schedule things properly.

I used to watch figure skating years ago, When it was fun to try and catch a gal flipping up her skirt. The costumes for the men and women are too brutal to look at these days...... That's why I say let's go back to the old Olympics and make everyone compete nude.

I am so happy for Joannie Rochette. I wonder what is next for her, if she will continue to compete. I thought that Kim Yu Na was beautiful. Like Finn's Mom said, mesmerizing. They talked about how much pressure she was placed under in South Korea. She's only 19 years old! Give her a break, people!

I was glad that everyone did a good job and tried their hardest, and that no one fell in the top group of skaters. Each young woman seemed pleased with her results, and even if Mao Asada looked a little upset, she did smile when awarded the silver.

One can be taught jumps, and to some degree artistry and musicality, but there is no real training program for grace under pressure, which they all exhibited.

And I loved the color of Kim Yu-Na's costume best, it was very pretty!

An article in the Dance section of yesterday's New York Times (Sat. 2/27) on a topic discussed in this thread:
"In Figure Skating World, Winning Leaps Over Art" - http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/27/ar...ed=1&th&emc=th
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
    Death thought about it.

Karen, That sounds great & sad too. I bet no one will have a dry eye. Will be watching the TV guide in the newspaper for the time & channel. Thanks!

I'm bumping up another old thread. I missed the Russian teenager landing the first quadruple jump in competition. I searched for Joannie Rochette on line and discovered that she became a doctor after her skating career. There was a pair wearing navy blue last night (Canadians? ice dancers?) and I thought they were just beautiful.
