The girl at the counter just gave me the refund, my husband tried to show her the broken parts and she clearly didn't care. If it turns out I can't walk yet tomorrow I may just rent one, for today I will use a walker that I had from when my Mom was alive.

Use a cane! My sister broke her foot and had a trip to Europe planned for 2 weeks later. She had to stay completely off of it for a certain length of time. I forget how long exactly. But then she was in Germany in a wheel chair. In two weeks in Europe she had graduated from the wheel chair, to crutches. Then my mom and I went over and met my sister and brother-in-law in Prague. By that time she had progressed to walking with just a cane. She used the cane and out walked my mom around Prague. And that is saying something because Prague is full of cobblestones! But I would highly recommend a cane and a good fitting flat shoe on the other foot.

First - congratulations on the new stage!

On to the boot...I, as well, am an experienced "boot walker". I was in one for quite some time, and the thing is still in my closet. Be careful with the OTHER knee!! You get so out of whack that other knee takes on so much of the load at an odd angle and it can damage it. Wear a good supportive shoe on the other foot with inserts to try to get you up a little. Watch yourself going down steps; the boot can take on a life of it's own!

Good to hear you're walking, even though it's with the boot. You're on your way!

I'm walking with a mini boot now too. It can be a life saver and it can be very uncomfortable at times. Without my tennis shoes, I'm all over the place. Good luck with it.

Does your hip hurt from being uneven?

I have a limp anyway because of all the knee surgeries I've had in my left knee. Since I broke the foot(right one), my hip is hurting even more.

The biggest problem with breaking a foot or having walking problems is the overuse of the other side. It's really annoying but how can we avoid it? Getting old is pure misery enough but this all made it worse.
